Victorian 1890s dress in Lawn Cotton & Lace Day Dress .
This is a lovely, romantic lawn cotton and lace dress from the 1890s. These dresses were typically seen as day dresses for garden parties or games of croquet .

The dress has a slight train to back hemline , 3/4 sleeves, a full skirt , pigeon bust and mother of pearl buttons up the back.

The dress structure is typical of other dresses of this era. It has a high lace collar and upper bodice with lace panels vertical up bodice center.  There are pin-tuck pleats on shoulders to upper bust making it full. There is lace around the sleeve cuffs, a lace band around waist and horizontal lace panels around skirt a lower knee length. The skirt has a 16″ ruffle hemline with flat pleats around.

The back of the dress has pin-tuck pleats down shoulders on both sides and a row of small MOP buttons to close with 2 snaps on waistband. The hemline is slightly longer in back.

The dress is in good wearable condition. It is sturdy . It does however have a few things to mention due to it’s age. There are 11 small rust / faint  stain spots  over the dress one of the snaps on waistband does not stay closed, there is a small hole in lace of bodice and the back hemline ruffle has 4 repairs. I have tried to show these all in photos.

The dress was measured across and doubled while hanging , because of the structure of the dress these are a guideline. Please note the dress was meant to be worn with petticoats and still have a loose bodice.

28″ bust/ 22″ waist/ 14″ across shoulders front in between seams/ 12″ sleeve/ 15″ from top of shoulders to waistband top/ 54″ length front/ 57″ length back.
